The professional choice is an extremely important and delicate moment, which raises many questions and can occur at different stages of life.
Uncertainties regarding work can arise from the first job to a time of career change, as the factors that influence this choice are diverse.
In this article, we'll show you a list of professions to help you get to know different careers better and choose the one that suits you best!
How to choose a profession?
A profession can be understood as someone's professional occupation, in other words, it is a specialized activity performed by a skilled person.
With this in mind, the training required for each position varies according to the type of activity to be carried out and the day-to-day of the profession.
In some cases, it is necessary to take a higher education course to get a job in the area, in others, with complete primary or secondary education, it is already possible to enter the job market. Anyway, it is important to understand what are the requirements for the area you want to work in.
If you still don't know which profession has your profile, you can start by taking a vocational test to have a direction and, from that, do an in-depth research in relation to the options that most caught your attention.
Another point that can help you in this search is try to identify which areas of knowledge most interest you, because by understanding the subjects you would most like to study and delve into, it becomes even easier to identify which options best fit your profile.
What is a knowledge area?
Area of knowledge is a way of grouping subjects that are related, that is, it is the union of areas that have similar or complementary research methods, applications and functions.
Grouping them is the best way to facilitate teaching and learning within educational institutions, such as technical courses and universities. Furthermore, specialization in areas of knowledge also contributes to preparing professionals for the job market.
For example, imagine a person who would like to work in the nursing sector. She would probably have to study subjects such as human anatomy, microbiology, epidemiology, among other contents that would help her in her day to day work, right?
It is precisely to have this direction that the division into areas of activity serves, without it it would be much more difficult to build solid and specialized knowledge in a sector.
Without a division by areas of activity, a person who would like to be a nurse would have subjects such as calculus, art history and grammar, for example. Ultimately, she wouldn't have a solid build in an area to become an expert.
According to CNPq (National Council for Scientific and Technological Development), the areas of knowledge can be classified into 8 main ones:
- Agricultural Sciences
- biological Sciences
- Health Sciences
- Exact and Earth Sciences
- Engineering
- Human Sciences
- Applied Social Sciences
- Linguistics, Letters and Arts
Within each of these areas there are several professions that require similar study bases, but that go in different directions according to the final function of each one.
For example, thinking of a profession that needs a higher education, those within the same area of knowledge would have one or two years of subjects shared between courses until, at a certain point, a separation was necessary to follow in different directions of specialization.
