To receive a credit card, an application form must first be completed at a bank branch or online. The client then legitimizes himself, that is, he proves his identity with the help of an identity document. He can do this personally (branch), using the PostIdent or VideoIdent process. The bank then checks the customer's creditworthiness. If everything looks good here, the credit card will be issued and sent to the customer. The entire process can take anywhere from 3 days to three weeks. It's not immediately, so doubt it when someone tells you (immediately)!
Apply for a credit card on site
A credit card can be requested directly at a bank branch of any Banco Santander. All important information can be entered into the registration form; a consultant is available for questions or uncertainties.
It is important to present your identity document and, if necessary, the last three payslips, which some credit card companies require as a copy.
On the form, the applicant must provide their full name, address, date and place of birth. Since the bank carries out a credit check when applying for revolving and charge cards, in order to protect itself from a default, data on personal living conditions is also requested. This includes marital status, occupation and residential status.
Apply for a credit card online
Some credit card companies may offer these favorable terms because they don't have branches. Therefore, some credit card applications are only available online, but they are definitely worth it. Providers sometimes waive annual fees or offer a long, interest-free payment term.
Anyone filling out an online form will still have to print it and sign it in person after submission. The form is then legitimized at a Deutsche Post counter using the PostIdent procedure. To do this, a Postident coupon is filled in, which in turn must be signed. A Post employee compares personal data with that on the candidate's identity card.
The entire process is free for the candidate. Anyone who completes all the routes quickly will receive the card in the mail after four working days, some take 7 days.
Virtual credit cards (online)
During the FinTech revolution and the advancement of e-commerce, another type of credit card may be established, the virtual card. A non-physical card that is only available as a digital image in the form of a card number and CVC.
And this is the case with Banco Santander which as most providers of virtual credit cards issue them based on credit, so to speak as prepaid credit cards, the virtual credit card can also be seen as a digital variant of the prepaid credit card. Its area of application is first and foremost the Internet. In the future, with the continued expansion of mobile payment options, this may also become a general option for many credit card users, as many credit cards are then only stored as digital images in the smartphone's digital wallet.
To have a card like this, you only need:
- Schufa exam: no
